Corned Beef and Cabbage
We know cooking with bacon grease is passé, but in this case there’s no substitute for the rich flavor it brings to this dish. You'll be ahead of the game when you give this corned beef and cabbage dish a try.
1 corned beef brisket with seasoning pack
Fill pot with water and bring to slow simmer. Add brisket and contents of seasoning pack. Boil 3 to 3 ½ (three and one-half) hours until tender. Put 1/4 cup water in a separate pot and bring to a boil. Add cabbage, bacon grease, salt and pepper. Steam until tender. Serve with boiled potatoes and brown sugar-glazed carrots if desired.
Use the leftovers to make Reuben sandwiches.
