Fabulous Fall Looks for Your Face

So it's time to put away the bronzers, sunkissed brights and other summery colors. Does that apply to your makeup, too? The short answer is yes, but fall makeup can be really beautiful if you choose the right colors. Cooler weather is a great time to try out heavier, smokier looks like a dark, smoldering eye. Just remember a couple of things about dark makeup - adjust the shade of your color to the shade of your skin; darker-skinned women should go for deeper hues. And choose a dark lip or a dark eye - not both. If you're sporting a smoky eye this season, try a baby pink lip gloss or stain. Conversely, the dark magentas and orangey-reds that look great will pair up well with a light, shimmery eye.

Try dark, olive greens and blackish-greens for a new twist on the traditional dark grey/black smoky eye. And a nice contrast to all that green for any eye color is violet eyeliner. Violets and plums bring out the best of any eyecolor, making brown eyes richer, blue eyes more sparkling and green eyes deeper. Embrace the nautical trend by trying navy eyeshadow with a little gold swept under the lower lashes and across the browbone. Navy particularly looks great on brown-eyed girls. For pale cheeks, get that wind-flushed look by using a brick-colored stain or powder swept across cheekbones. Remember the moisturizer before you apply makeup this season - windy weather can make skin dry and flaky, so get a solid foundation before you start playing with fall makeup looks.
