Fall Fun: Be a Weekend Warrior

After a long, hot summer, autumn is a breath of fresh air… literally. The temperatures are dropping, the leaves are changing and there’s a world of possibilities when it comes to fun fall family activities everybody is sure to enjoy. Team sports are always a good option. Between football, cheerleading, soccer, hockey and other autumn sports, you can definitely fill up your calendar with practices and games. In addition to keeping the kids active, it also helps them build camaraderie. If you’re not up for committing to a team sport, make your own team and play on the weekends. Hit the local parks or empty fields to participate in the sport of your choice with your loved ones. Maybe it’s a game of touch football.

Perhaps it’s an impromptu game of kickball. Make it a weekend ritual to do something as a family. If organized sports aren’t your thinking, take a hike… literally. Find a national park or a trail and spend Saturday and Sunday exploring the great outdoors. For those who don’t want their feet to do the walking, why not try horseback riding, which is always a favorite among kids and adults alike? Hayrides are another favorite pastime for fall. Although it may seem a little early, you can always fit in a trip to the local pumpkin patch. Get your pumpkin ahead of time. Or use your pumpkin to make pumpkin seeds, pumpkin bread or other appetizing autumn recipes. When you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, check out the local craft festivals and start getting into the spirit of the holiday season. There are plenty of weekend activities to do – it’s just up to you to get creative.
