Oh Say Can You Sea Spray?
When it comes to hair care, the hottest look of summer is beautiful beach bum. And there are a slew of new products to help you ride the loose waves look. We’re talking about sea sprays. If you’re looking for a simple, one-stop style that requires no other products, make sea sprays your go-to this summer. These products provide that tussled, frizz-free look that’s simply sexy. We’re talking a cross between beachy and bed head. Sea sprays are made with elements that create hold, boost texture, add volume and ward off the evil effects of summer’s worst enemy – humidity. The fresh scent also makes you feel like you just stepped off the sand. Redken’s Radiant Sea Spray is one new product that will set you back about $17, while Paul Mitchell’s Wapuhi Wild Gener sea spray will set you back about $18. You don’t have to be a hair expert to put these products to work for your hair. Spray clean, damp hair generously and tousle hair with fingers. Leave hair to air dry or dry with a diffuser. Another option is to spray dry air to give more definition and volume.
If the price of high-end sea spray products will break your bank, you can opt to make your own sea salt spray for a whole lot less. It’s important to remember that the main ingredient – that being salt – provides hair with more texture. Purchase a spray bottle and fill with 2 cups of purified or distilled water. Add one teaspoon of sea salt to the bottle. Shake well. Add 1/2 teaspoon of conditioner to the bottle. For a beach scent, use a conditioner with a coconut scent for that beach smell. Add 1 teaspoon of hair gel for extra hold. Put the top on the bottle and shake well. Be sure to shake well before every use. Apply to damp hair, scrunch and twist to create luscious, beachy locks.
