Re-evaluate Your Next Meal

Think positive. If you think you’re going to fail at weight loss, you will. In order to lose weight, it’s important not to engage in negative thoughts. There are going to be times when you have a weak moment or you give into temptation. The key is getting back on track at your next meal. Don’t let “the power of one” overtake all the healthy habits you’ve incorporated. If you’ve skipped one workout, then it won’t ruin your entire diet effort. If you eat one cookie – or even one BOX of cookies! – then you still have the option of getting back in the saddle tomorrow. One slipup doesn’t spell diet doom. Don’t let mistakes and moments of weakness derail your diet. Pick yourself up and try again. Keep a positive outlook and you’ll be more likely to stay the course. Consider how far you’ve already come in your weight-loss efforts. Whether you’ve lost one pound or 100 pounds, you’ve taken steps to become healthier, which deserves a pat on the back. Choose to focus on your advancements – whether it’s eating more fruits and vegetables, turning down desserts, losing inches from your waist, or lowering your cholesterol a few points. Give yourself a little positive reinforcement each time you reach a goal, and don’t make them too lofty. Concentrate on what you do today or at the next meal and take it one day at a time.
