The Cure-All for Cracked Feet
When you’re on your feet all day, you haven’t got time for the pain. That’s why it’s important to take care of your dogs before they start dogging you. Dry, cracked feet aren’t just an aesthetic issue – they can be downright painful. The good news is that there are plenty of at-home remedies that will leave your feet feeling as if they just stepped out of the salon. Take a few minutes every night to soak feet in warm water with a mild soap. You may even consider adding a medicated moisturizer that’s designed to treat dry skin on feet. If you’d prefer to whip up your own treatment, mix a cup of honey and a gallon of water. Soak feet for 10 to 15 minutes in the mixture. Once you’re done soaking your feet, be sure to dry them out completely. By leaving areas wet, you’re opening your feet up to bacteria and fungus infections. When your feet are dry, apply a foot cream or lotion for moisturizing.
There are plenty from which to choose. From shea butter to aloe to Vitamin E, each cream offers its own benefit. Regardless, almost all of them will do the job. After you’ve applied the lotion, put on a pair of clean white cotton socks. Keep them on overnight. The cotton wicks away moisture while the lack of dye eliminates the possibility for any dye irritating the skin. Some beauty stores will even sell the socks. If you want to save yourself some money, just use a pair of white cotton socks that you already own. Other home remedies include applying banana pulp to dry areas and leaving it on for 10 minutes before rinsing with water. Some people suggest soaking feet in lemon juice for 10 minutes. There are many cure-alls that will kick the dry skin problems that often plague your feet.
