Baked Ham & Macaroni Cheese

Yankee-Doodle is coming to town with this this ham, cheese, asparagus and macaroni casserole. It is topped with breadcrumbs -- so, it will look golden and brown. We don't care what you call that feather in your hat... this is Macaroni!


Baked Ham & Macaroni Cheese

Ingredients

For 6 people

  • 7 ounce(s) elbow macaroni (2 cups uncooked)
  • 1 tablespoon(s) butter
  • 3 tablespoon(s) flour
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt, if desired
  • 1 teaspoon(s) parsley flakes
  • 3/4 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
  • 3 tablespoon(s) dry bread crumbs
  • 6 ounce(s) jar mushrooms
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper
  • 2 cup(s) milk
  • 2 1/2 cup(s) shredded American cheese
  • 2 cup(s) diced ham
  • 10 ounce(s) frozen asparagus cuts thawed, drained
  • 10 1/2 ounce(s) can of asparagus drained can be substituted for frozen asparagus

Directions

Prepare macaroni as pkg. directs, then drain and set aside. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour, salt, parsley flakes, dry mustard and pepper. Blend in milk and cook stirring continually until thick and bubbly. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add cooked macaroni, ham, asparagus and mushrooms and mix well. Pour into buttered 2-quart casserole and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
