Syrian Prunes

Do you wrinkle your nose up at the thought of prunes? If so, you'll never look at the fruit the same way again once you taste this prune dish that can be served over beef, lamb or chicken.

Ingredients

For 6 people

  • 12 ounce(s) pitted prunes
  • 1/2 cup(s) walnut halves
  • 2 tablespoon(s) butter
  • 1 cup(s) sweet red wine
  • 1/2 floz pomegranate syrup
  • 1/2 juice of lemon

Directions

Stuff the prunes with the walnut halves. Sauté in butter for about 5 minutes, or until tender. Add the wine, pomegranate syrup, and lemon juice. Simmer, uncovered, over low heat for about 20 minutes.
