Savory Bite-Sized Treats

Not all holiday nibbles need to be sweet. These savory recipes are great snacks to place out for a holiday get-together when you're enjoying the company of family and friends before the big meal.

Baked Spinach-Cheese Balls

Hearty, warm biscuit dough packed with zesty cheddar cheese and robust spinach flavors, these bites are great plain or with a dipping sauce!

  • 1, 10-ounce box frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed to drain
  • 1 cup original baking mix (for example, Bisquick)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Zesty Dipping Sauce

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. ground horseradish
  • 1 Tbsp. deli mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. minced or crushed garlic
  • 2 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

Combine all ingredients and stir until well mixed. Chill for 1 hour to let flavors incorporate. Serve chilled or room temperature.
